Your company can grow. Will it have the people?

The Demographic Briefing for Business is a paid, evidence-based conversation for owners, executives and decision-makers. It brings several expert perspectives onto one stage and explores how smaller generations, ageing, migration, longevity and technological change will affect companies.

Who will work for your company, lead it and buy its products ten years from now?

Why now

Demography is not a distant future. It is already entering the company balance sheet.

It affects recruitment costs, growth capacity, knowledge transfer, caring-related absence, automation, regional access to talent and the structure of demand.

01 · PEOPLE

Fewer candidates, stronger competition

Smaller generations are entering the labour market as larger ones approach retirement. A company without a demographic workforce view reacts only after a critical role is vacant.

02 · KNOWLEDGE

Retirement can mean system loss

When an experienced colleague leaves, the company loses more than labour: judgement, client relationships and unwritten processes may disappear with them.

03 · MARKET

The future customer will be different

Ageing and changing households reshape demand. Longevity is not only a public cost; it is a market for services, technology, housing, finance, mobility and health.

What the company takes away

A conversation that opens the right business questions.

The briefing does not promise universal recipes. It helps participants understand where demographic and technological change already touches their company and which questions they need to address in good time.

01

A clearer view of change

An evidence-based perspective on the shifts affecting people, markets and company development.

02

Questions for your own company

Starting points for thinking about talent, succession, knowledge, customers and productivity.

03

Connections across fields

An understanding of how demography, longevity and technology intersect in business decisions.

Proposed format

Several expert perspectives. One shared discussion.

The central part of the event is designed as a live on-stage conversation in which expert contributions connect with discussion between contributors and questions from the audience. The precise format will be published once all contributors are confirmed.

Demographic framework

Aleksandar Uglješić and Žiga Sedevčič

Key demographic shifts and what they mean for people, companies and Slovenia’s future development.

Longevity

Aljoša Rojac

Longer lives, the biology of ageing and the questions longevity raises for individuals, workplaces and markets.

Future technology

An additional expert perspective

The possible participation of a confirmed expert in artificial intelligence or a related technology field will be announced later.

Shared discussion

Conversation between contributors and the audience

Connecting different perspectives without pre-packaged sales answers and without political framing.

Methodological principle: official evidence and projections are kept separate from business scenarios. The briefing does not forecast an individual company's future or replace legal, tax, HR or investment advice.

Who it is for

For people who carry the consequences of decisions.

The content is for business decision-makers. This is not a general conference or a mass promotional event.

◆

Owners and executives

For decisions on growth, succession, long-term resilience and investment.

◎

HR leaders

For planning age structures, critical knowledge, attraction and retention.

↗

Strategy and development leaders

For identifying new markets, regional differences and the productivity role of technology.

◇

Successors and family businesses

For connecting ownership transition with workforce succession in good time.

This is not an event for passive listening.

The greatest value goes to participants willing to examine their own evidence, acknowledge blind spots and open a decision their company has postponed for too long.

Three-minute preview

How prepared is your company?

Assess five areas. The result stays in your browser and is not transmitted.

  • retirements and succession,
  • critical knowledge transfer,
  • regional talent pools,
  • automation and productivity,
  • customer change.
1. We know the age structure of critical teams for the next five years.
2. Critical roles have successors or a knowledge-transfer plan.
3. We know which regions and generations will supply our workforce through 2030.
4. Automation is planned around a measured workforce gap.
5. We track how ageing and households are changing our customers.

The conversation continues

Space for questions, experience and connection.

After the central discussion, time will be devoted to audience questions and to connecting people facing comparable challenges in their companies. The precise format of this part will be published with the final programme.

Topics raised by the audience

Participant questions will be an important part of the event because the effects of demographic change differ across industries and companies.

Connections are voluntary; no participant list is shared without consent.

Three clear routes

Institutional partnership

For an event supporter

For a company or organisation wishing to support high-quality public and professional discussion about the demographic future of business.

  • a clearly defined scope of support,
  • transparent acknowledgement,
  • no influence on methodology,
  • a separate agreement on visibility.
Discuss partnership

Transparency: this will be a paid event. The fee, tax treatment, date, precise materials and cancellation terms will be published before registration opens. Expressing priority interest is not a registration and creates no payment obligation.

Frequently asked questions

Before you express interest.

Is this a conventional lecture?

No. The central format is a live expert conversation on stage. The individual perspectives complement one another, contributors also discuss the issues among themselves, and the audience will have space for questions.

Must we submit company data before the event?

No. The event does not require internal HR or financial data.

Is the event only for large companies?

No. Demographic exposure also matters to small and medium-sized businesses, especially when knowledge is concentrated in a few critical people.

Is the programme already final?

No. The central perspectives have been defined, while the precise format, all contributors and the accompanying programme will be published after final confirmation.

Does expressing interest count as registration?

No. You will receive the date, fee and terms. A place is confirmed only through formal registration under the published conditions.

Can a company become an event partner?

Yes, but partnership is separate from participation and does not permit influence over IDP's research methodology, evidence or findings.
