Aleksandar Uglješić

President of the Institute – Strategic Development and Demography

Founder and Director of the Institute for Demographic Future. Aleksandar Uglješić works at the intersection of demography, psychology and the understanding of human potential. His vision reaches beyond numbers — he believes that the demographic crisis is not merely a statistical problem, but a reflection of deeper shifts in values, meaning and quality of life. He leads the Institute with clear strategic direction and a commitment to lasting, systemic solutions for Slovenia’s future.

Rok Mlakar

Board Member – Strategic Direction of Activities – Programme Development and Strategic Orientation

Co-founder and member of the governing board of the Institute for Demographic Future. Rok Mlakar brings to the Institute experience from the worlds of sales and health — two fields in which human behaviour, motivation and decision-making reveal themselves in their most concrete form. His understanding of how individuals and communities make decisions directly shapes the projects and programmes the Institute develops to address the demographic challenges of the future.

Žiga Sedevčič

Co-founder and Member of the Governing Board

Co-founder and member of the governing board of the Institute for Demographic Future. Žiga Sedevčič is someone who sees connections that others overlook. His broad interdisciplinary knowledge — extending beyond narrow professional frameworks — brings fresh perspective to the Institute and the ability to solve complex challenges from unexpected angles. Where a problem appears unsolvable, Žiga finds a path.

Blažo Marković

Ambassador for Serbia

Ambassador of the Institute for Demographic Future for Serbia. Blažo Marković is a bridge between two countries and two professional communities connected by a shared challenge — the demographic future of the Balkans. Through his knowledge of the Serbian environment, his networks and his understanding of regional dynamics, he actively extends the Institute’s reach beyond Slovenia’s borders and strengthens the foundations for a truly European dimension of its work.

Vision and Responsibility

The institute’s leadership is based on the idea of long-term understanding of demographic change and its impact on society, the economy, municipalities, younger generations and the future development of Slovenia.

The goal of the institute is to create a credible research environment that presents demographic data to the public in a clear, professional and long-term useful way.

Special attention is dedicated to connecting research content, public dialogue, data analysis and cooperation with institutions and local communities.

The leadership supports the development of research in fertility, population ageing, migration, regional development, municipal data and long-term population projections for Slovenia.
