#PreštejmoSe

A physical wristband as a signal. A silent agreement between people who know what they want. A simple idea that allows us to recognise each other — on the street, in a café, on a train.

Wristbands · color system
Red
I have a family — and I am fulfilled in it.

I am single and looking for a relationship or family.
White
I am under 18.
Yellow
I am not ready for a relationship yet.
Purple
I am in a relationship that does not fulfill me — open to change.
Black
I choose single life — consciously and freely.

Context

Why #PreštejmoSe

People are not failing to find partners because they do not exist. They fail because we no longer have a system that allows us to recognise each other in real life. Tinder is not the answer. Bars are not the answer. We need a new, human protocol.

“Perhaps we meet them on the street. Perhaps we notice them in a café. Perhaps they are sitting opposite us on a train. And then we see it — a yellow wristband. And we decide to approach.”

2024
Record-low birth rate
Last year, Slovenia recorded the lowest number of births in its modern history. The trend is not accidental.
1 od 3
Adults are single
Most do not want to be alone. What is missing is infrastructure for meeting — physical, not digital.
0
Shared public signals
We have no public signal that tells others we are open to meeting. Until now.

How it works

A simple protocol

A wristband is not a wedding ring. It is not an app. It is a physical signal — we wear it when we are open and remove it when we are not. Honest and simple.

01
Choose a color
Each color communicates your status and intention. You decide which color you wear — and when you wear it. No obligation, no pressure.
02
Wear it when you are open
The wristband signals that you are open to interaction. When you are not wearing it, no one approaches you. The protocol is clear and it is respected.
03
Register and contribute
By registering the wristband on partner platforms, you contribute anonymous data that helps the Institute understand real demographic patterns.

Color system

Six colors, six stories

The colors are inspired by the Slovenian flag — red, blue and white form the core. Yellow, purple and black add nuances that reflect the reality of modern life.

Red
I have a family
I am married or in a committed relationship, with children or the intention to have them. I am part of this movement and I support it.
Alternative meaning: I am in a relationship — do not approach me romantically. I respect the protocol.
Blue
Single and looking
I am single and actively looking to meet someone serious. Open to conversation, connection and a shared future.
Alternative meaning: divorced or after the end of a relationship — starting again.
White
Nisem polnoleten/-na
I am under 18. I support the movement in solidarity, but romantic approaches are neither appropriate nor welcome.
Alternative meaning: I am in a calm phase — not looking for anything and content as I am.
Yellow
Not ready yet
I am single, but not currently looking for a relationship. Perhaps soon — but not today. Respect my pace.
Alternative meaning: I am focused on career or personal growth — partnership comes later.
Purple
In a relationship, but open
I am technically in a relationship that does not fulfill me. I know I want change. I am honest with myself and with others.
Alternative meaning: I am widowed — grieving, yet open to the future.
Black
Consciously single
I choose single life — not out of necessity, but from free decision. I support the movement, but I am not romantically available.
Alternative meaning: asexual or aromantic — solidarity yes, romance no.

Target group

Who is #PreštejmoSe for

The project is not only for the young and single. It is for anyone who understands that demographic future begins with us — with every individual willing to take a step.

Young and single
A generation raised on Tinder and social media — yet longing for real, physical encounters and authentic relationships.
Single mothers
Women raising children alone who may want a partner, but lack time, space or opportunity to meet someone. The blue wristband is their voice.
Women who want children
Regardless of status — those who know they want motherhood, yet are trapped in the wrong relationships or circumstances. The project sees them and gives them a voice.
Supporters of the movement
Married, fulfilled and not looking — yet aware that the demographic crisis is a shared concern. They wear the red wristband as a sign of solidarity and commitment.

Ecosystem

Partners and allies

#PreštejmoSe cannot function alone. We invite matchmaking agencies, relevant organisations and individuals who understand that real-life connection is a matter of national interest.

Matchmaking
Partner-matching agencies
Platforms such as Zapis and related services will receive data on registered wristbands and use their networks to support meaningful matching.
International
Bird Gap · Stefan Molyneux project
The project is connected with an international organisation addressing declining birth rates and demographic change in a global context.
Education
Workshops on courtship and meeting in person
The project will fund workshops for young people that teach how to approach someone in real life — a skill we have largely forgotten as a society.

Data and research

The wristband as a demographic sensor

Each registered wristband is an anonymous data input. Together, we build a living picture of where single people are, where there are couples hoping for children — and what this means for the future of communities.

“What matters most to us is that we take all publicly available data and use it — creating tools and mechanisms that help us understand why birth rates are declining, why people are unhappy, and why so many remain single.”
Project vision · NEO ARK 2035

Data collected through wristband registration will be shared with the Institute for Demographic Future and will complement the project Demographic Time Machine — an advanced system for understanding and forecasting demographic changes across towns and municipalities. In this way, #PreštejmoSe becomes a living, participatory part of the national demographic strategy.

Become part of the movement

It is not enough to be aware of the problem. We must take a step. The wristband is a small step — with a powerful message. Join, share it, become a partner.
