Housing is more than the place where a person sleeps
The concept explores the home as productive, social and demographic infrastructure. Instead of isolating housing from other costs of life, it considers the household’s total cost of living and the services, production and mutual support that can be created around a settlement.
The proposal is a research concept, not a promise that one design can solve housing, pension or demographic policy. Its claims must be tested through measurable pilots.

Connection with the town
Shorter supply chains, local work, shared care, public transport and services that link a productive settlement with the nearby urban centre.
What must be measured?
- total monthly household costs before and after intervention;
- energy and water consumption;
- mobility time and costs;
- accessibility of care and community support;
- local production, employment and service effects;
- the experience of residents across different life stages.
Evidence standard: official evidence, interpretation, hypotheses, scenarios and proposals must remain visibly separated. A successful pilot must show measurable benefit without transferring hidden costs to residents, municipalities or the environment.
